A South Carolina priest made headlines this week when he starred in a new poker competition on US television this week.

Father Andrew Trapp, an assistant pastor at Garden City Beach's St. Michael Catholic Church, has so far won $25,000 in Fox TV's Million Dollar Challenge, which was set to air for the first time on Sunday night.

Trapp, who reportedly also goes by the nickname "Father Rambo" for his paintball skills, says the funds will go toward helping build a new church for his congregation.

He is competing against such celebrities as American football champion Jerome Bettis, NBA champion John Salley and four-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu for the $1 million prize, which will no doubt give a substantial boost to St Michael´s rebuilding plans.

Trapp said his participation in the tournament would be positive because "Even if I didn't win any money, it would be an opportunity for people across the country to see that there are still young men choosing to be priests, and that one can be joy-filled and have fun as one serves God."

"The poker-playing priest" is also fast becoming a YouTube hit, with thousands having already viewed a clip about his participation in the tournament before it even went to air.

common stock at a price of $0.90 which will be issued to ICP as soon as
practicable. As announced on August 18, 2009, ICP made an initial investment in
PokerTek, purchasing 565,000 shares of common stock at a price of $0.85.

Brandon Hall has won the 2009 Aruba Poker Classic Championship, beating a field of 475 players to take down the $753,330 first prize. Robert Mizrachi was the runner-up for $414,680 but a deal struck when the two players were heads up meant each player effectively chopped the pot and played for $30,000 change.

With the date of compliance for the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act less than two months away and legislation to push back enforcement failing to make progress in Congress, the Poker Players Alliance is trying a new method to delay the deadline.

The PPA filed a petition with U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner asking for the date of compliance, which is Dec. 1, to be extended one year under the Administrative Procedure Act.

The French parliament has approved a bill to regulate and legalize online gambling, including online poker. The new law is expected to come into force next year, and up to 100 operators are expected to apply for licenses.

(Online poker will be taxed at 2 percent under the new regime).

The 38th person elected into the Poker Hall of Fame is none other than PartyPoker Ambassador and Poker News Daily Guest Columnist Mike Sexton. He will be enshrined as part of ceremonies to be held on November 7th.



(Sexton's election was an easy decision for judges, considering his impressive credentials. Having won over $3.7 million in poker winnings, a WSOP bracelet (Seven Card Stud) and having earned 47 WSOP cashes to go with his 2006 WSOP Tournament of Champions win, Sexton easily earned his spot. In addition, Sexton has helped promote the game by serving as announcer for the World Poker Tour).

Following the lead of other online poker rooms Bodog Poker announced this week the fourth installment of the Bodog Poker Open will feature two different buy-in levels.

The Championship Series will run from November 1 - 8 with buy-ins ranging from the $55 rebuy event to the $500 Main Event. The Contender Series, which runs parallel to the Championship Series, has a $5 rebuy on the low end of the spectrum and a $50 buy-in Main Event. The two levels of buy-ins, along with a multitude of satellite events, give poker players of all levels a chance at becoming a champion.

Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius have now completed almost 30% of the 50,000 hands they will play in the $200/$400 Pot Limit Omaha challenge, where Dwan is laying $1.5 million to Antonius’ $500,000 that he will be ahead at the end. Antonius has recently built a $480,000 lead, which means that Dwan must recover twelve buy-ins or else lose both the $1.5 million and whatever Antonius wins at the tables.

Dwan’s upcoming challengers might include not only Phil Ivey and David Benyamine, but also Luke “_FullFlush1_” Schwartz, a recent big winner in the high stakes games on Full Tilt Poker. Schwartz has recently blogged that he will “defi nitely play” Dwan if he can, and that he believes that he is next in line after Dwan fi nishes with Antonius. Dwan quickly accepted the challenge, so we’ll see if the two start tangling soon.

The European Poker Tour just fi nished its Monte Carlo fi - nale, and the tournaments there included a $25,000 High Roller event. Vanessa Rousso topped a 79-player fi eld to take the championship and $720,000 (over €950,000). Tony “G” Guoga, William Thorson, and secondplace winner Randy Dorfman were among the other players at the fi nal table.

I have been involved with hands like this as well as watch hands unfold many times on more than one site, tables and tournys, small and med stakes over the last 8 years or so I have played online.

Player A (1st to act) raises 3x blind preflop with med pocket pair
Player B ( mid seat) calls with 2 over cards
Player C (on button) calls with rags like suited 4 7 (really no business being involved) IMHO

Flop

Player A hits a set and raises 2x pot
Player B hits 2 pair and reraises
Player C now has a flush draw with his rags and calls
Player A reraises all in
Player B calls
Player C calls

River flush hits and pays off the reckless player.

Happens way to often, almost like the program is set up to create action and pay off a player who knows what the out come will be. I know river beats will happen but...........

hello, will see online poker as it is often difficult, because not only
have the best hand if you get lucky for us that will make the cards go
to our hand winning, the first advice is do not play many hands, or
increases too much before seeing the flop, this is a very common
mistake for those who play poker, because they play all the cards,
first you have to do very well the cards that came out in the previous
hand, because that may depend on whether you or on chance to win,
another very important thing in poker is not despair, many times we
lose everything because we feel that we are not out anything since the
first good hand we nevertheless have a good hand does not mean that you
win, poker is crazy and can lead to many combinations, contrary to your
hand, so you have to be smart, and know when to go and when to fold,
and I applied this strategy these days and do not like to lose
everything before, but now I think I have the letters I have more
patience and I am playing better, try it and see that you'll do better

If I am talking about watching a hand or being beat then I must not be rag player C 😄

Thanks for the good advice. I'm trying to build a bankroll right now online, so hopefully with your advice I can get one going. I usually make a few dollars in freerolls and then lose it a matter of minutes at stupid tables.
