Any comments are welcome!

You say you don't want to invest a lot. Well, that's probably not great attitude to start with then. That said. . .

Bodog does have 2 daily $500 freerolls that are worth playing if you're willing to make the time investment of 4-5 hours if you're planning on winning. It's $120 top prize & $1.75 bottom money. Figure on a 3.5K-4.5K player field depending on time & day paying out to top 63 regardless of field size. . .

So, now let's say you make some money from one or more of them. Bodog is not really set up for the micro stakes player. There are $1-$3 MTTs & SnGs, but basically you're looking at $5 & up a shot. And you won't find anything below $0.05/$0.10 at the ring game tables. . .

One good feature is that you will be given Poker Points for any real money games you play. Gather enough of these -- basically 1 point a day for a month -- and they can be used in PP buy-in tournaments -- say the $300 freeroll for 30 points buy-in -- which should be less taxing than the $500 freerolls. . .

So, in short, Bodog, to me, seems to be set up to cater to the player willing to invest some cash, or that can take their freeroll money and grind away with it until it amounts to something usable. . .

The only thing I think I left out is that the software client sucks. Don't know if you have to have a top of the line PC unit for it to work well, but anything less and expect the software to hang and freeze on you pretty much constantly. . .

Great post sycosteve....Bodog is a good beginners site. You also gain points when you play their "play" sit&go's. The point system is based on time played basically a pt per hr or fraction of an hour. The points can also be converted to T$ and are used as entries into cash tournaments. The beginner STT's pay out to the top five and beginner MTT's have better payout ratio's too!

I am new to Bodog (because I am canadian...we were not allowed to play there until recently) Must say, I enjoy it so far. There $500.00 freerolls are interesting but you better have 4 to 5 hours to play if you want to make the money. And syco is right....the software sucks.

If you signup through ixgames you have 2 more freerolls per month with good people which is supposed to grow and with that the prizepools as well. We plan on doing more thing at bodog in the future.

Apart from poker they have casino, sportbook and racebook with the same account.

I didn't realize that. Too bad, next time I will check the forums before signing up at poker sites.

The Beginner tourneys at Bodog are good odds tourneys but the payout isn't good unless you get 1st or 2nd out of 10. However, they are a good way to learn patience and as you step up to higher stakes, the payouts get better.

I think bodog is worth it i wouldn't deposit 2 much money at first till you get used to the games plus if you like to bet on sports . they have a good sports book and they payout like 3 or 4 days check by mail

Have just joined and played in the $500 freeroll It was the most like a real live poker game Ive played online. Having said that - I had to shut down and restart three times in the hour I played. Also, the hand history is lousy and the winning hands flashed so fast that most of the time I miss them, That means can't do other stuff while I play if I want to check out other players strategy (which I usually do). The poor hand history show is a real shortcoming in my book.

You're right on all points. They have, by far, the worst software of any room I've played on to date. I hate the fact that they don't store HH on your machine -- even as an option, at least. The client is a resource vacuum. It often lags and/or crashes on me depending on what else I have running. It gets very frustrating especially if you get deep in a tournament and all of the sudden it starts turning your PC into a very nice paperweight. . .which it has done to me on a number of occasions. Just will never know for sure if it ended up costing me some money or got me some extra. . .

I do agree that you don't find quite as much of the donkiness in the 'dog freerolls as you do on FTP or PS. It's a refreshing change really. And if you get into private freerolls it really IS poker. . .subject to the vagueries of the RNG, of course. I played two tonight there and the play was very sane and high quality. . .

Bodog is a great poker site, but making your first deposit there is a great choice then you can transfer your money into your Moneybookers, Neteller etcs, up to you to choice.
Now you are there you have only one opionens, betting at sports and playing casino is not a good think, not when you know how to play it. 😁

They need to unglitch their software.

Lots of action though...many many fishies.

Bodog is also good when you feel like not betting on poker and instead throw the 20$ on a football game while your out at the bar... except the fact that they redbox over and unders on sundays which i hate... poker wise i like the headsup turbo 22$ game. thats where you can find me at

I like Bdog mostly for the amount of weaker players @ low stakes cash tbls. U can build up a good bankroll. But beware, if u run too well the software will get u! + u will suffer some very nasty badbeats bcuz some donks just wont fold! Overall, vg site & I luv the casino.

Bodog is NOT the site for micro stake games. Yes the freeroll payouts are good and there can be some nice payouts in the sit-n-go tourneys, but if your just looking to try and build your bankroll from scratch, there are better sites for that.
