Fulltilt along with Chris F. and Howard L. are being indicted or investigated at least by the FBI. Trying to use money laundering as a charge. All has to do with UG(whatever) law that supposed to go in effect soon. Hopefully this will backfire on them and push congress to pass legislation for online poker.

I really don't expect that there will be any change. The feds are reaching.

It would be nice to believe that but they aren't really reaching. Federal law on money laundering is serious and the consequences can be dire. All of these poker rooms are going around US law to bank in foreign countries and disperse payments across the US border to players in the US. Actually, if the Feds have gotten their mitts on some proof of these payments coming and going in states such as Kentucky which has banned online gambling completely, it should be a pretty easy case to prove. Hopefully it does spark debate on the topic and Barney Frank and his buddies can get something done to regulate and tax poker, if not all gambling in the US. People are gonna do it just like they drank in prohibition. It would be nice if the US could make some money off this as well as legitimize the game and provide a safe, secure, and truly "fair" playing experience that I personally don't really trust that the rooms are providing currently.

I hope everyone that voted for Change is happy. This is just another way to get into everyone's pockets.

I am well aware of the laws concerning money laundering. It hasn't been that long since I stopped practicing. I'm also aware that most of the people I've talked to in the legal community do not believe these charges will amount to anything. I guess only time will tell, but I'll be very surprised if any of these charges stick.

Here is one opinion by one of the world's foremost experts on gambling law.

I. Nelson Rose on Final UIGEA Regulations

This is certainly not my area of expertise, but I agree with his reasoning as to why online poker (and by extension financial transactions related to online poker) would not be considered illegal under the UIGEA.

Way to cast blame on the wrong party. The act was passed under the previous administration. It was sponsored by republicans. In what way does that have anything to do with those who voted for "change"?
