I have heard people using various “helping” software while playing online. Can I have some information about these software and in what manner they are helpful?

The two main software programs players use is Poker Tracker and Hold'em Manager. These two program track your hand histories, storing information on your opponents play.

There is also a program called SNG Wizard that helps improve your SNG play.

There is also the poker calculators, they give you the % odds to a hand to be made, it helps players that find hard to count outs, also help when need to push preflop or for starting hands, but is more for new players, after time you really do not need them.

As previously said, many different aspect of the game are covered through different applications. Some will give you infos about your opponents like tracker does, but you can find many different apllications depending on what your lookig for.
Some apps will give you infos on upcoming tournaments, mostly overlays. :thumbsup
Others will give you the opportunity to track your play and work on your own weaknesses. Let's say that they are all interesting, but none are sufficient in itself. :dirol

A whole lot of “poker software” are available and helps in your game play. It can be a “tracker” kind of software , analyzer or a calculator. Just remember that only some sites are supported these software and you must check
what such software your website allows.

Many online players use poker tracking software namely Poker Tracker 3 to improve their game. It helps them compute even more than they can when playing in a live game. Such software lets to keep track of players betting patterns, win patterns and much much more.
It also helped improve my live game by getting me to observe all the right things at the table.
There are numerous other software like Texas Hold em manager, odds calculator available for free(trail) or paid specifically designed for helping pros in online poker.

Glad I could help.

I would like to thank all the posters here for providing such a useful information. So there are “odds
calculator”, “Tracker”, and “analyzer“ programs or applications that can be used in online poker.
Are these free of cost, because one poster above said it being available “free trial”?

Most trackers aren't free. But there is a way to have them free if you choose to sign one of their supported room through their link and deposit a small amount of $. Then the tracker will be free. Another way to get it free would be to download it through pear2pear. All other stuff are free, usually.
Try Pokerstove for odds calculator, Overlay Notifier for overlay tournament to start, tournament director to run your home games.
Hope that will help.

Rightly said by the above poster.
Choose pokertracker or HoldemManager, both are very popular and widely used. You won't find them free, rather than this think of them as a good investments.

Websites (i.e your poker room), specifies what software you are “allowed to use”? So confirm whether you are allowed to use these from your room. Likewise Pokerstars.com mentions what tools and services you are allowed to use.
They prohibit certain software(tools), some all of the time and some.

Better check your website first.

A google search will find web sites that review the 3rd party "software helpers" giving a brief explanation of features and a comparison to other programs in it's class. The link below is from Pokerstars explaining which programs are approved or banned. This list shows all the programs available; researching this list will answer all your questions.

Thanks for your kind replies. Is there a software(s) that can be used at all the poker sites without a doubt?

As I mentioned earlier, it depends on the website whether they allow a certain software or not.
Pokerstars list of “prohibted” software is up there suggested by greywind050.
The answer is “Check your website's list of Prohibted list of allowed and not allowed software”.
