Poker.org was sold for $1 million by National A1 Advertising to Pokercompany.com, which makes it the highest record .org sale price, according to Domain Name News. Pokercompany.com currently owns other non-.com domains such as Craps.net, Blackjack.org and RakeBack.org
However, the .org domain sale is much smaller than most .com sales such as the $5.1 million for Toys.com and $3 million for Candy.com. The Washington Post reports prior to Wednesday's, the largest .org domain was sold for $198,000 for engineering.org and sexe.org sold for $151,400.

Not surprising considering the amount of money swaping hands (pardon the pun) in the on line poker world.

That's an insane price for a Domain name.
Being .orgs are the 3rd largest Top Level Domain after .com and .net.

I understand at this point PokerCompany.com doesn't even have any imediate plans for the purchase.

TMM and not enough sense.

The Poker.org sale corresponds with a trend in .org domain registrations, which saw an 11% increase in 2009. The .org top level domain is now the third largest generic domain, after .com and .net, - with eight million registered names.
