UIGEA Legislation Likely to Take Effect

The entire poker world, as well as pro-online gaming supporters in Congress like Barney Frank (D-MA) are hoping that the UIGEA will be seen as the failure it truly is when it does nothing to deter online poker players from the US in participating in online poker games. The law does make it illegal to play online poker; it only makes it illegal for banks to process the transactions to and from these sites. So the PPA and online poker supporters have been urging anyone with a real-money account to continue playing in an effort to show politicians exactly how useless and unenforceable the UIGEA legislation truly is.

There are almost as many mixers for rum as there are ways to get around this.

Just a suggestion. Don't keep too much money on any of the sites. If you can afford to withdraw before the 1st and maybe leave a few bucks to play with, I'd do it. Sure, you can get away with it but the bad check fee will be the least of your worries if you try to process a payment from a room after UIGEA takes effect. Rest assured that the little guy will probably escape the wrath of the law but you can't be too careful. Of course, they all could come to their collective freakin senses and legalize POKER as a game of skill and tax the deposits as has been suggested. Don't we have enough crapola to worry about with a hole in the ocean nobody seems able to fix? Matter of fact, the money generated from taxes on poker would pay for alot of cleanup. As a side note, how bout the legalization of mary jane too? Maybe then we wouldn't have Mexicans pouring over the border with weed in tow.........

[FONT=Franklin Gothic Medium]I saw an article on a poker news website that seemed to imply that under UIGEA financial institutions would be prohibited from sending outgoing transactions to gambling sites -- meaning, I take it, to a poker room -- but it said nothing about incoming transactions to financial institutions. So, June 1st and after, maybe we'd still be able to cash out by any existing methods [check, bank transfer, wire transfer, ewallet, etc.] just as before?[/FONT]
