Monday’s best bets, by Chris Cook
I still can’t quite believe that Alto Des Mottes (3.05) didn’t win last month’s North Yorkshire Grand National after going clear in the straight. But it was a serious test of stamina and his gave out after he had a lot of use made of him.

He’s gone up 7lb since, which is frustrating and makes it a risk to go in again at much shorter odds today, especially as he hasn’t won right-handed yet. But on balance I think 11-4 is fair and the shorter distance on heavy going may suit. I like Warrantor, his main rival, but his useful amateur pilot has yet to win over obstacles, was unseated from this one last time and may have some of his focus taken up with the tricky business of staying aboard.

Flatstats, who is worth a follow on Twitter, points out that Micky Hammond hasn’t had a winner on the all-weather since 2007, since when he is 1/97. Hammond is a good trainer in other areas but for whatever reason the sand appears not to be his sphere of excellence, which is relevant because his Faiseur De Miracle is a short price for a Wolverhampton maiden.

The obvious alternative is Fun For All (3.15) from the in-form James Tate stable. On her second start last month, she was a fair third after racing too freely, the runner-up having won since. It won’t take much better for her to land this, though Alphabetical Order is feared on his second start for David O’Meara.

Congratulations to TCtiger, who held on to win last week’s competition on a final score of +14.50, solidifying his lead through Le Boizelo on Friday. We’ll be in touch by email!

This week, thanks again to 32Red bookmakers, we can offer another £25 ante-post bet on any race (for which betting is available) at this year’s Cheltenham Festival. You can see 32Red’s Cheltenham markets here.

To kick things off, we’d like your selections, please, for these races: 4.10 Carlisle, 4.20 Wolverhampton, 4.45 Carlisle.

As ever, our champion will be the tipster who returns the best profit to notional level stakes of £1 at starting price on our nominated races, of which there will be three each day up until Friday. Non-runners count as losers.

In the event of a tie at the end of the week, the winner will be the tipster who, from among those tied on the highest score, posted their tips earliest on the final day.

(My betting today is $1255 tomorrow i have $20 000)

Three recent winners looking to follow up today and appear to have obvious chances of doing so:

3.35 Helovaplan 21/10 with boost. I am expecting it to confirm placings with Club Wexford from the other day although it ought to be tighter between them.
4.05 Tanasoq 5/2
5.40 John Honeyman 7/4

Also a 1 pt win treble on the above but with 11/8 about Helovaplan

I would take under goals from the game Trakai vs I. Pavlodar (Europa league Qualification) Trakai team defends well and they ended their last games with 1 or only 2 goals. Teams should play carefully in the first leg and we shouldn't see many goals today. Good luck

UEFA Europa league (Qualification)

APOLLON - STUMBRAS

We had an interesting first game where Stumbras won only by one goal 1:0. However, both teams have stil chances in the next match. I have no doubts that Apollon will try to keep and control the ball while Stumbras will try to score a goal when they go on the counterattacks. However, I think that Apollon will not smash their opponents. So, it is worth to take Stumbras +1.5 or under goals because I also hope not to see many goals as we did in the first meeting because both teams will pay their attention to the defense.

Champions league qualification (Zvezda - Suduva) I think that Suduva will do everything to defend and they will wait their chances on the counterattacks. So, we shouldn't see many goals in the first match. It is worth to try and take under 2.5 goals
