EPL: Manchester City vs Wolves Betting Preview

This Monday night we have a clash between title chasing Manchester City and a tough Wolverhampton Wanderers side who have caused big boys a ton of problems this season already at the Etihad!

Both sides are currently showing some strong form with Manchester City winning 4 straight since losing back to back league games and in these 4 games they’ve scored a ridiculous 21 goals (5+ per game). However 16 of those did come against lower league sides Rotherham and Burton but regardless that is still incredible goal scoring form.

Wolves meanwhile have won 5 of their last 8 games and are coming off a very impressive 2-1 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup last Monday night which should definitely be keeping their team morale very high. Wolves goal scoring form has improved recently in their good run as they’ve scored 12 in those 8 games (1.5 per game), but defensively they have fallen off only keeping 1 clean sheet in their last 14 games.

The first time that these teams have met, we saw a controversial 1-1 draw as Man City felt like they were robbed by the referees of a win due to some poor decisions. However, Wolves did make it very tough on City that day and caused them to drop points.

The last time that Man City and Wolves met at the Etihad was last season when City beat Wolves in the EFL Cup after surprisingly being held to a 0-0 draw so it took penalties for City to hold their opponents off.

Wolves have a very good record against the big 6. In fact in 8 games they’ve only lost twice (25%), won 3 times (37.5%) and drawn 3 times (37.5%). This does include cup competition too. They lost to Spurs and Liverpool at Home in the league, beat Chelsea and Liverpool (Cup) at Home, Spurs away and drew with Man Utd, Arsenal away and Man City at Home. They’re unbeaten against the big 6 away from home. 1W 2D.

Gabriel Jesus is a man to watch out from Man City as he’s shown red hot form scoring 5 goals in his last 2 apps, despite it being against lower league sides, he should definitely be coming into this game full of confidence and he’s expected to start especially with Aguero potentially being out

Raul Jimenez is the man to watch out from Wolves. The striker is their top goal scorer and has bagged goals against Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool in the past month. Loves a big game.

Bookies have Man City as massive favourites tonight as they’re priced to win just at a measly 1.19, they’re priced as 2 goal favourites. Wolves to win is at an extrodionary 18.00 and are clearly the MASSIVE underdogs here. Anything other than a City win would be considered as a surprise here.

Team News

Manchester City: Bravo and Mendy both remain out while Kompany and Aguero are likely to miss out the game due to lack of match fitness therefore expect Jesus to lead the line up front and Laporte to pair up with Stones or Otamendi at the back.

Wolves: Wolves are currently fully healthy and injury free which allows Nuno to choose the best possible team he can and is unlikely to make too many chances from a strong side he put out last week against Liverpool.
