EPL: Everton vs Chelsea Betting Preview

Chelsea’s push for a top 4 finish continues as they travel to Goodison Park where they face a struggling Everton side.

Everton are currently 12th in the league and are showing absolutely atrocious form having won just 2 of last 9, losing 6 of those games and are coming off a heart-breaking 3-2 loss to Newcastle last week after leading 0-2. To say Marco Silva is under pressure would be an understatement right now as this team is one of the biggest disappointments this season.

Chelsea are 6th right now, but with a game in hand and 3 points off the top 4 they could move tied with Arsenal with a win. Chelsea have been playing better as of late going unbeaten in 5, winning 4 of these games. Although they only managed a draw last week against Wolves, their overall form is good right now. They did beat Dynamo Kiev 0-5 on Thursday which was a very impressive result for the Blues. They should be confident heading to Goodison that they can get a big win.

Everton have a disastrous record against the top 10 of the Premier League this season winning just 1 of 15 games (10 losses). They are yet to win against any of the “big 6” either.

Chelsea’s issue is their away from against the top 12. They have just managed 1 win from 7 and have lost 5 of those games with a 4:18 GD. They have struggled against decent opposition away from home whereas against 13-20 placed teams they have won all 7 games away from home. Will have to up their game if they want a win at Goodison.

Goodison haven’t been quite a fortress and a tough place to go for opponents. Everton just won 6 of 15 at home this season which is an unusually poor record. Just like their whole season, their form at home has also been disappointing. Everton have won just 1 of last 8 at Goodison in the league and have lost 4 of those games.

Chelsea have won each of their last 3 away games, though 2 have been in Europa League. In the league Chelsea were a good away side prior to 2019, but in 2019 they’ve been awful with a 1W 0D 3L record in their travels in the BPL with a 2:13 GD. They won their last away league game however at Fulham 1-2.

The attacking duo of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison are players to watch from Everton. Both have scored in double figures in the league with 11 goals each totalling 22 of Everton’s 41 goals this season in the Premier League which is over half of them.

Eden Hazard the man to watch for Chelsea. His legendary status keeps growing at the club as last week he bagged a goal that put him at 24 goal contributions (13G 11A) this season which is his new personal best in the BPL for a season. Hazard is the main threat whether scoring or creating for Chelsea and if he’s on his game, Chelsea should have a great chance to win.

The first meeting at Stamford Bridge ended in a surprising 0-0 draw. Chelsea created chance after chance, but Everton managed to hold on and snatch a point away from Chelsea.

Chelsea have had decent success at Goodison recently winning 3 of last 5 league games there (1W 1D). However the most recent meeting in Goodison ended with a 0-0 draw last season where again Chelsea were all over them but couldn’t find the breakthrough.

Chelsea are tipped bookies favourites to win this game at 1.98 while Everton to win is offered at 4.10. Draw is 3.65. Odds based on Unibet.

Team News

Everton: Seamus Coleman is out, Kurt Zouma is unavailable to play against his parent club while Phil Jagielka is doubtful to feature leaving Everton slightly short at the back.

Chelsea: Chelsea don’t seem to have any serious new injury concerns and expect Sarri to play his first team.
