Bundesliga: RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich Betting Preview

Two of the best Bundesliga sides face off as Bayern Munich will look to officially secure the league title as they travel to face 3rd placed RB Leipzig.

This is going to be a battle between the best attacking side in Bayern who have 83 goals (2.59 per game) in the league and the best defensive side RB Leipzig who have conceded just 27 (0.84 per game) in Bundesliga this season.

With 2 games to go now, Bayern Munich could secure the league title if they match or better Dortmund’s result this Saturday as they are 4 points clear after Dortmund blew another game last week.

RB Leipzig meanwhile are not playing for anything as they’re not in the title race nor in the battle for CL as they’re 11 pts clear of 5th in the 3rd place having already secured it weeks ago, however don’t expect them to just lay down here for the league leaders considering it is their last home game of the season and they wouldn’t want someone else to come and win the league at their ground.

Form wise, both sides have been scorching red hot for many weeks now. RB Leipzig are unbeaten in 17 games across all competitions (no losses since mid January and have won 13 of those games). Leipzig did just have their 7 game win streak snapped last week against Mainz where they drew 3-3 away from home but that result shouldn’t change the fact that RB Leipzig have been in sensational form. Leipzig currently posses the longest unbeaten streak in Bundesliga at the moment at 14 games (10W 4D).

Leipzig have been absolutely red hot attacking wise as well. They have scored 23 goals in their last 8 games which is nearly 3 goals per game which arguably is their hottest stretch of the season up front.

Bayern have also been in amazing form. Other than that disappointing Champions League tie with Liverpool in March, Bayern are unbeaten in 15 straight games domestically (12 in the league 3 in the Cup) and have won 10 of the last 12 league games and have scored a ridiculous amount of 39 goals in their last 12 league games (3.25 per game). Bayern are also enjoying what is their hottest stretch of the season up front just like their opponents which could definitely lead to a high scoring battle. Last week Bayern defeated Hannover 3-1 to take one step closer to the title.

Leipzig have been a solid home team this season. Only one defeat from 16 league games which was actually their last defeat overall before this unbeaten streak which came against Dortmund 0-1 although they have had a few too many draws, a 10W 5D 1L record does stand at 3rd best in the league. Leipzig have been exceptional defensively conceding just 9 goals (0.56 per game) in front of their fans while also scoring goals at a high rate with 34 (2.13 per game) though their goal scoring has been inconsistent as there’s been multiple games where they scored 0-1 goals, but also have had multiple times scoring 3-4 or even more. Leipzig have won each of their last 3 at home against Hertha, Wolfsburg and Freiburg scoring 9 goals and conceding just 1 making their current home form outstanding.

Bayern have by far been the best away side this season in Bundesliga winning 11 of 16 away games (2D 3L) while being the highest scoring away side with 39 and tied best defensive side with 18 conceded on their travels. Bayern haven’t lost an away game since the start of February which came against Leverkusen going unbeaten in 7 straight away games currently domestically (5W 2D) though their last away game has been disappointing drawing 1-1 with relegation threatened Nurnberg but it definitely was nothing more than just a one off game for the league leaders.

Timo Werner is the man to watch for the hosts. Yet again having a solid season up front with 16 goals and 7 assists leading the club in both categories and he’s been in sensational form as of late scoring 5 and assisting 3 in his last 7 games and was very good last week scoring and assisting on all 3 goals against Mainz (1G 2A).

Robert Lewandowski is the man to watch for Bayern. Star striker is yet again scoring goals for fun with 22 in the league (4th straight season with 20+ goals) and has also been in amazing form as of late scoring 8 goals in his last 8 games for the club.

Bayern have owned the H2H between the two sides since Leipzig’s promotion to Bundesliga in 2016. These sides have met 5 times in the league with Bayern winning 4 of those meetings (3W form 3 at home, 1W 1L at Leipzig) though their last match up against Leipzig in this stadium was a lone Leipzig win as they won 2-1 at home against Bayern last season. This hasn’t been quite a high scoring fixture as of late. Although the first 2 meetings saw a total of 12 goals, the next 3 have only seen 6 goals and the reverse fixture this season at the Allianz Arena was only a 1-0 Bayern win.

Bayern are favoured to win this game at 1.71 whereas Leipzig to win is 4.50 with Draw offered at 4.10. The odds are based on Unibet.

Team News

RB Leipzig: Midfielder Kevin Kampl is suspended and won’t play for the hosts which could turn out to be a big loss. Marcel Sabitzer could return from injury and may feature in this fixture though.
